Intercom and Access Control

Building entry is its own system: the intercom that buzzes people in, the strike that releases the door, and the fobs or codes that open it. The locksmith services all three.

What this service covers

  • Buzzer and intercom repair: door releases that do not fire, handsets that do not ring
  • Electric strikes and magnetic locks on building entry doors
  • Fob and key card systems for walk-ups and managed buildings
  • Keypad entry for staff doors, back doors, and gates
  • Replacing a lost-fob population with new credentials

Walk-ups and small buildings

Most small buildings need three things: a door that latches, a strike that releases when buzzed, and a handset in each unit that works. The locksmith tests each part and fixes the one that failed instead of replacing the whole panel.

Managed buildings

For fob systems, the locksmith adds and removes credentials, replaces readers, and ties the entry door hardware to the controller so the door locks when it should.

Common questions

The buzzer works but the door does not open. What is wrong?

Usually the strike or the door alignment, not the intercom. The door has to be sitting right for the strike to release the latch. That is a hardware repair.

Can you add a keypad so deliveries can get in?

Yes, with a code that can be changed whenever you want. It is a common request for buildings without a doorman.

What is included in access control here?

Door hardware, intercoms, strikes, readers, and credentials. Anything that opens, releases, or controls the door.
